| JESSICA'S LAW BLAMED FOR HOMELESSNESS |
By Nannette Miranda
SACRAMENTO, CA (KGO) -- Thursday, a state appeals court ruled that Jessica's Law amounts to additional punishment. The law prohibits sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of a school or park.
This ruling leaves the current law in effect, but could limit its application in the future. Meantime, the law passed to crack down on sex offenders, could actually be increasing the danger they pose.

| Sex offenders win state court ruling over where they can live |
|
I fear many are misconstruing this ruling, they did not declare the law unconstitutional -as to everyone- they only said it cannot be applied to everyone. That means the law is constitutional as written. Also, this still has to pass the muster of the state's highest court. Please pass the above on so folks DO NOT misconstrue that court decision. Thanks, eAdvocate

ChangingTheLaw.com My family's lives have been forever changed because of the sex offender laws. It has nearly destroyed me. My son Eric, at age 22, was put into prison for chatting online with a 15 year old girl. He never knew where she lived and never met her. Her father found the chat log on his daughter's computer. From the chat logs, he knew my sons name, where he worked, everything about him, so he turned him into the police. Obviously my son is not a predator because he disclosed all of the information about himself and never found out where she lived.

If you don't want to chat with someone, you block them and you never receive another message from them. That takes about 3 seconds to accomplish. The chat was completely consensual, no one blocked my son. Last update: 12-12-2008 18:08
